Make no mistake -- The Associated Press and the Rubert Murdochs of the world know the current news system is doomed. That's why they want to charge for their content -- their role is to protect power and the interests of the financial elite. The AP and Murdochs of the world want to maintain their superior priest-like positions as Godly news oligarchs. They want to stifle the new paradigm of citizen journalism that's gaining critical mass -- a paradigm where news is distributed horizontally.

Murdoch and his ilk are in imminent danger of extinction and they know it. They aren't simply going to lay down and die. They'll use every last dollar from their millions to destroy bloggers and the growing monumental shift in information gathering bloggers represent. Media moguls are aware that to some extent they have bloggers over a barrel. It costs money to finance news gathering teams across the globe. And there's only a handful of wire services that dominate the entire news landscape, a landscape all of us are imprisoned and beholden to for what the media monopoly decides is news.



Murdoch losses of $136 million this year and $57 million a year earlier, have nothing to do with free content. "Quality journalism is not cheap," said Murdoch, "and an industry that gives away its content is simply cannibalizing its ability to produce good reporting."

The only quality journalism and good reporting Murdoch has achieved is how well he's managed to cannibalize the truth. Murdoch's media group spews out a shameless stream of lies, deception, and propaganda. Murdoch's only interest is in preserving his media mogul status and proto-fascist, top-down structure of information distribution; the same can be said for rags like the Huffington Post that serve as a mouth piece for Obama.

Murdoch's pathetic pledge to charge for content will fail, pure and simple. He will not create a mass parade of would-be content followers. On the contrary, his pay-for-content scheme will only hasten the destruction of his entire media mega-structure. Murdoch may generate revenue from those of like minds willing to pay for his hysterical evangelistic version of news, but it will all backfire.

His greedlust will foster the healthy media competition he clearly opposes. Murdoch may succeed in attracting a small, loyal band of paying Jim Jones-like followers who will worship him as a journalistic hero, but the real heroes are bloggers forced to wade through the manure he and others call news. As it stands now, bloggers must arduously sift through information from wire agencies -- and the subsequent spin by retail outlets -- for little nuggets of truth: it's like panning for a few small specks of gold in a murky river of lies.

Lawmakers are trying to pass a bill which would ask for an audit of the Federal Reserve. But there are some media outlets that are taking a different route. They are filing lawsuits under the Freedom of Information Act through which they try to find out which banks received bailouts and how much money they got. Just recently one such lawsuit was rejected. The problem might be that the Federal Reserve itself doesn’t know where half a trillion dollars went, says Kardell.

Blackwater claims they're authorized to use lethal force in U.S.

The Examiner's Jim Kouri reports Kentucky’s Lexington Police Department contracted Blackwater Security International to provide what’s described as homeland security training.

Lexington is on the nation’s list of so-called Sanctuary Cities in which police officers are prohibited from working with ICE or Border Patrol agents in the United States.

Kouri claims Lexington isn’t the only city using hired guns to help local police officers. In New Orleans, heavily armed operatives from the Blackwater private security firm are openly patrolling the streets. Some of the mercenaries were reportedly “deputized” by the Louisiana governor and were issued gold Louisiana State law enforcement badges to wear on their chests and Blackwater photo identification cards to be worn on their arms, says Kouri.

Kouri reports that while they are working in Louisiana, Blackwater officials say they are on contract with the Department of Homeland Security and have been given the authority to use lethal force if necessary. Some of the mercenaries assigned to patrol the streets of New Orleans recently returned from Iraq, where they provided personal security details for the former head of the US occupation, L. Paul Bremer, and the former US ambassador to Iraq, John Negroponte.

Record Number of Americans on Food Stamps

While mainstream media whores celebrate their bogus and misleading US job loss and unemployment claims, for the first time more than 34 million Americans received food stamps in May. Enrollment surged by 2 percent to reach a record 34.4 million people, or one in nine Americans. This is the sixth month in a row that enrollment set a record. Every state recorded a gain, and Florida had the largest increase at 4.2 percent.

Remember, more than 650,000 Americans will have used up all of their unemployment benefits by September, and the Labor Department doesn't track anyone who has moved beyond 26 weeks of unemployment in its weekly data on continuing claims. That means the government will report significant declines in continuing filers and use that to generate even more propaganda.

Central Banks Agree to Cap Gold Sales

European central banks agreed to a third five-year cap on gold sales. The European Central Bank and 18 other banks agreed to sell no more than a combined 400 metric tons of the metal a year through September 2014. That’s less than the annual cap of 500 tons in the current agreement, which expires Sept. 26. John Reade, an analyst at UBS AG in London, said it's positive for gold. Having the agreement “removes the small chance that European central banks would have dumped gold onto the market in an unconstrained manner.”

What Is FEMA Planning For Our Children?

I can understand government suggested guidelines to unite children with their parents in the event of an emergency or disaster, but why create an entire "Children's Working Group"? This bulletin was posted on FEMA's website, and smacks of a Nazi-like induction of our children into an Owellian structured, federally controlled clearinghousel.

The plan calls for FEMA to supervise "incorporation of children into national planning scenarios and exercises". Any guidance and support of our children during an emergency can be coordinated locally, without FEMA supervision and federal control.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- While testifying before the Senate Ad Hoc Subcommittee on Disaster Recovery today, the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator Craig Fugate announced the creation of a "Children's Working Group."

The working group will allow FEMA and its partners to explore and implement planning and response strategies specific to children throughout the agency and ensure that during a disaster the unique needs of children are not only considered, but fully integrated into how FEMA administers this support to states and the public.

"It is time for special needs populations, whether children or any other segment of our communities who have traditionally been underserved, to be more fully and consistently integrated into preparedness and planning efforts at every level of government," Administer Fugate said. "Children are a part of every community. We must understand and address their needs from the outset, recognizing that they are not simply small adults. That means not putting the considerations specific to children in a separate box, but incorporating them into our planning on the front end."

The Children's Working Group will be composed of FEMA employees across multiple directorates and offices to ensure coordination and action, and will report directly to the Office of the Administrator. The working group will be chaired by Tracy Wareing, counselor to Secretary Napolitano for FEMA.

Areas of focus of the Children's Working Group will include:

* Child-specific guidance as to evacuation, sheltering, and relocation;
* Tracking and reunification of families;
* Coordinated case management supports;
* Enhanced preparedness for child care centers and schools as well as for children in child welfare and juvenile justice systems;
* Enhanced national planning, including incorporation of children into national planning scenarios and exercises;
* Incorporation of children's needs into grant guidance;
* Improved recovery coordination across the federal family and with state and local partners in support of children's education, health and housing;
* Consideration as to how the federal family can help ensure child care centers are able rebuild and restore services more quickly following a disaster, and;
* Increased public awareness efforts to educate families and protect children during disasters.

FEMA's mission is to support our citizens and first responders to ensure that as a nation we work together to build, sustain, and improve our capability to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate all hazards.

Twenty-one homeless people die after bird flu vaccine trial

Three Polish doctors and six nurses are facing criminal prosecution after 21 homeless people died following medical trials for a vaccine to the H5N1 bird-flu virus, according to The Telegraph's Matthew Day in Warsaw.

The medical staff, from the northern town of Grudziadz, are being investigated over medical trials on as many as 350 homeless and poor people last year, which prosecutors say involved an untried vaccine to the highly-contagious virus, says Day. The victims received £1-2 to be tested with what they thought was a conventional flu vaccine but was actually an anti bird-flu drug.

Day claims Polish authorities have not established a direct link between the deaths and the medical staff, but Poland's health minister, Ewa Kopacz, said the doctors and nurses involved should not return to their profession. "It is in the interests of all doctors that those who are responsible for this are punished," he said.

In a chilling-to-the-bone revelation regarding Poland's national health service, Day claims that in 2002, "a number of ambulance medics were found guilty of killing their patients for commissions from funeral companies."

Research center using babies and children for experimental H1N1 Vaccine

The Warwick Beacon reports Omega Medical Research, a privately owned clinical research center providing clinical research services to the pharmaceutical industry, will "study three different vaccines on three different age groups. Roughly 300 adults will receive an injectable vaccine. The study will also include about 40-60 children between the ages of 2 and 17 and 40 infants and toddlers between six to 35 months old. Some of the patients in the younger age groups will get injections, while others will receive nasal sprays."

Patients will receive compensation for their participation in the study. Adult participants will receive up to $540, children up to $350 and the youngest group, up to $520.

According to their website, Omega Medical Research claims over 6,000 patients have been registered as study subjects for various trials. "Additionally, Dr. Fried [OMR's Medical Director and Principal Investigator] enjoys his own private practice of over 12,000 primary care patients, as well as being part of a regional primary care practice of 35 physicians who, collectively, have well over 200,000 patients. As such, recruitment is a streamlined process, utilizing an ever-expanding database of potential subjects."

So Dr. Fried and his clinic volunteer the services of his patients and the patients of 35 other doctors as guinea pigs to the drug companies for a fee.

“It’s a unique opportunity for the residents of Rhode Island to get vaccinated,” says Lynn Haughey, a nurse practitioner and co-owner of the Omega Medical Research center. Haughey claims that during the study participants will not actually be exposed to live novel H1N1 viruses, but thy will be exposed to their antigens.

Rhode Island Department of Health spokeswoman Annemarie Beardsworth said the clinical vaccine will likely be produced by one of five pharmaceutical companies: SanofiPasteur, GlaxoSmithKline, Novartis, CSL Biotherapies or MedImmune. So, if a manufacturer experiences a mishap while making a vaccine, there will be others working toward the same goal.

Demand for pandemic body bags have been streaming in to a small Toronto based company known as Trevor Owen Ltd, from as far away as the Sultanate of Oman on the Arabian Peninsula, according to thestar.com. "There are state and provincial governments that are starting to stockpile pandemic body bags ... It's a bad pun, but (the business) is growing," said Trevor Owen president Pierre Barcik.
