Furloughs expected after layoffs at IBM in Vt.

Just weeks after 419 IBM workers lost their jobs in Vermont, a number of remaining employees will have to take a one-week furlough at one-third pay.

IBM is requiring the majority of the employees in its Systems and Technology Group, which includes Essex Junction, to take the furlough.

Jay Cadmus, global communications manager for the Systems and Technology Group, tells the Burlington Free Press (http://bfpne.ws/12ZVbeN) the furloughs must be taken beginning Aug. 24 or Aug. 31. It's not known how many workers are affected. Read more >>
