Gold Coin Worth $500 Wrapped In $100 Bill Found In Salvation Army Kettle

American Gold Eagle

A gold coin worth $500 wrapped in a $100 bill has been found in a Salvation Army red kettle set up at an upstate New York shopping plaza.

The American Eagle coin was wrapped in a C-note and a memo that read: "This coin is solid gold and worth around $500. God Bless."

Salvation Army officials say about 400 gold coins have been found in red kettles over the past 30 years. Gold coins have found recently in kettles in Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, North Carolina and Florida.

Donations to Salvation Army drop 10 percent

The Salvation Army logo (Anglophone Version)Image via WikipediaDonations to the Salvation Army’s iconic red kettles are down 10 percent in the Chicago area this year when compared with the same time last year, the organization said today.

The dip is likely due to a combination of factors, including the country’s continuing economic struggles and a decrease in both the number of bell ringers and the number of sites where the kettles can be placed, said Lt. Col. Ralph Bukiewicz, divisional commander for the Chicago region.

“Having fewer sites, fewer workers and a greater need throughout (the area) seems to be creating an ever-widening gap,” Bukiewicz said.

The kettles first appeared throughout the area this year on Nov. 18 in an effort to raise $13 million, Bukiewicz said. As of Tuesday evening, the organization had raised about $7.3 million, or just over 56 percent of its goal, Bukiewicz said. More...

The Psychopath's Kettle Is Boiling

Nuclear weapon test Romeo (yield 11 Mt) on Bik...Image via Wikipedia

The Elitist’s One World paradigm is wracking apart under internet exposure, astounding failures in climate change, cap and trade, profligate bond and currency printing disasters and shocking new public relations failures by pseudo authorities to explain away the obvious. These bad boyz have been caught red-handed and even Chopper Ben admitted so in recent televised hearings.

A disconnect between these elitists and the common man seems a gulf too wide. Those that would control the world with stolen money, power and politics have finally met their match. At this juncture as they continue to flail away with old tools of fear, threats and illegal seizures, the herd on the ground has begun to fight back. We would suggest the cat’s out of the proverbial bag. The shaving crème is out of the can. Particularly in the USA, a new and nasty pushback has begun with a new internet army; and this is an army of revenge with many being armed to the teeth.

The battle has begun slowly but the tide has definitely turned. The internet turned out to be a weapon more powerful than atomic bombs expanding into a massive, news monster shining very bright lights on these conspirators, their henchmen, their actions, and their other lackeys on the ground. How ironic the net was designed as a defense department security and safety device. In the end its original plan may prove to be exactly that-the savior of our American nation. More...

BP Hires Mercenaries to Blockade Beaches

Blackwater operated helicopter with mercenarie...Image via Wikipedia

Adam Rawnsley with Wired:
Last week, we all voted here on who should buy Blackwater now that it’s up for sale. In addition to Steve Jobs and the Salvation Army, one of the top finalists was British Petroleum. “Somebody is gonna have to keep all those sunbathers away from the beach,” one commenter noted.

Well, today we can tell you: Danger Room gets results. Kinda.

BP, in a move destined to go down as one of the bestest public relations moves ever, has apparently hired a private security company to help to keep pesky reporters from covering the unfolding catastrophe on the beaches of the Gulf Coast. The report comes via New Orleans’ 6WDSU reporter Scott Walker, who last week ran into representatives of a “Talon Security” trying to block him from interviewing cleanup workers on a local beach. Just which of the various companies named “Talon Security” is storming the (public) beaches for BP, however, remains unclear.

Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time a private security firm made an appearance in a Gulf disaster. When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, the Department of Homeland Security and a number of private firms, fearful of reported widespread violence and chaos, turned to private security contractors like Blackwater and ArmorGroup International to protect their property.

So take heart, Blackwater. BP may have opted rent the services of a rival instead of purchasing you wholesale, but disasters are fairly regular occurrences and there seems to be no shortage of companies willing to make ill-considered PR moves in their midst.
